As if tuition, room, board and books weren’t enough, now the kid needs a car. That was my dad’s story in 1975. I was very fortunate. My parents covered all of my college expenses. I am very grateful, but the most tangible expression of their support was a 1972 Austin Marina. My first car. It was sporty in appearance, but it also reflected dad’s practical sensibilities. It was safe and reliable and priced right. The Austin Marina would never be accused of going too fast. None the less, I was literally a man from Boston who drove an Austin. My dad did a lot of wonderful things for me, but the truth is that getting me my first car was by far the best.
At Ocean Street Auto we frequently get calls from dads and moms who want just what my dad wanted for their student; safe, reliable, transportation at a good price. Generally, this means older vehicles with a price range between three and six thousand dollars. We specialize in finding older cars, vans and SUV’s that can be transformed by a great mechanic (Ted) into a vehicle that meets our customer’s needs.
